Our Staff

A well-trained, caring staff is essential to the success of any program for individuals with brain injuries. Our 24-hour staff is specially trained to deal with the needs of the TBI population. Their qualifications include successfully completing a caregiver’s class, HIV/AIDS course, a mental health class, food handlers course, and CPR/First Aid certification.

The caregiver’s class is a four-day, comprehensive course in care giving, home policies, and how to handle some situations with residents. The HIV/ AIDS course is a video which covers blood contaminants, wearing gloves, and other areas concerning handling HIV/Aids situations. The mental health class is a 1-day course in working with people who have disabilities and dementia. And, since staff members are expected to help with cooking on some shifts, the food handlers course is a 2-hour class in food-handling techniques and issues.

For our staff, working at Terry Home is not just a job; it’s something that they want to be doing, with a focus on helping other people. “It’s not just the job, it’s the people.”
